Kasey Chambers announces an acoustic tour of North Queensland and Darwin in March 2007. Although know for her stunning stripped back performances, this is the first time in Kasey’s 9 year solo career that she will put on an acoustic show. Kasey will be joined by special guests Shane Nicholson and Bill Chambers for the 9 date theatre run. Most songs take on a whole new life when played acoustically so I am looking forward to that change. I also get to share the stage with my husband, shane Nicholson, and my Dad, Bill Chambers. They’ll both be doing songs of their own and also supporting me through my songs, which will be a mixture of different tracks from my 4 albums....a bit of old and new and maybe a few surprises thrown in as well. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.” It's been a good year for Kasey - her 4th album, Carnival, debut at #1 on the Motorola ARIA Chart and has achieved platinum sales to date. And joining Kasey this year as her very special guest will be Missy Higgins. “I’m looking forward to Tamworth again, as always...but a little extra excited this year because not only are we doing my favourite show in the park for our 6th year - but I’m sharing the gig with Missy Higgins,” Kasey said. “We shared the stage at Wave Aid a couple of years ago and I’d hoped to get the chance to do that again sometime. So looking forward to seeing you all there and hope you enjoy it as much as we do every year.” Missy Higgins, who is currently in the United States working on her new album said, “I’ve only been to the Tamworth Festival once before so I’m really looking forward to getting back there and being part of this show that I’ve heard so much about”. In the five years that 'kasey chambers live free & in the park' has been in existence it has provided the perfect opportunity to help raise some much needed funds. Thanks to the generosity of the audiences, approximately ,000 has been raised and donated to local Tamworth based charities. The Tamworth Volunteer Fire Brigade, Tamworth Salvation Army Drought Relief Fund, Tamworth Youth Care Organisation for the Prevention of Youth Suicide, Tamworth Base Hospital Nioka Ward (Palliative Care Unit) & Hope cottage have all received funds.
